Planning - Here we go Again!

 Hey Everyone!

Welcome back to my blog for semester 2, I hope everyone reading this had an amazing Christmas. It's going to be weird getting back into things and getting back into writing my blog posts but certainly nothing I can't handle! This week we are planning our ideas for the rest of the semester. The topic I decided to write about for the document is "Music in Gaming".

Music Waves 

I chose this topic because I slighted touched off it in the first semester and thought it was really interesting. I knew I would be able to create a document of high level because it's something I'm interested in. There is a lot of information on this topic to research also which was important to me; I didn't want to run out of stuff to write about. I am also really into my music, which is another reason I chose this! I love music and always have, so that helps!

 Well, starting with the basics, I'm a 20 year old born and raised in Dublin, studying Creative Digital Media in TUD Blanchardstown! Before this course I studied in Bow Street Academy of Screen Acting, as acting is what I do with my spare time. Game Brainstorm

 In this blog post I will be talking through 4 game ideas that I would like to execute. As a child I grew up playing so many games with my brothers outdoors, so I'm going to take all my inspiration from my memories of fun times growing up. I think this will make my games original, and they will have more meaning to me. Hope you enjoy!  Game One For game one I drew my inspiration from my childhood memory of growing up on the River Shannon. Every summer I spent 3 months on my fathers boat on the River Shannon around Leitrim and sometimes we would travel all the way down to Galway on the boat.  After doing the Unity Tutorials with the vehicle I thought of a cool game idea. The idea is that the player view would be behind a speedboat which is speeding through the river and the player controls the boat by moving side to side, dodging obstacles such as markers and buoys on the river and jumping over ramps. Game Elements

 This week I read into different game elements.  Firstly, I was really interested in learning about the motive behind Objectives / Goals within games. It is very important, in my opinion, to read into this. Every game must have a goal at the end of it, otherwise why would the player bother playing? It was interesting noting the different objectives that can keep a player engaged such as capturing, destroying, collection, solving, chase, or race!  I read more into this here . This is an interesting read which goes further into detail about all the goals to consider when designing a game.  I also learned about critical analysis. Which is more of a non-biased critical look at the game instead of a "fault-finding" look at it. This read taught me how to analyse a game and give feedback.
